Phil Mickelson’s LIV Golf teammate Andy Ogletree says he’s heard ‘rumours’ some PGA Tour players are already eyeing up the breakaway’s promotions event in December.
LIV’s 2024 season ended last week in Dallas with Cameron Smith’s Ripper emerging the Team Championship.
I downloaded it and found that the individual champion was announced as the former World No.1 and the 2023 Masters champion, Jon Rahm on 15 September in Chicago.
Focus will shift to which players will be participating in the LIV Golf League in 2025 after Bubba Watson, Kalle Samooja, Scott Vincent, Kieran Vincent and Branded Grace got demoted.
There is one avenue, though, where players do not need to be offered contacts.
And that is LIV’s promotions event that will take place over 8-10 December at the Abu Dhabi Golf Club in the UAE.
The aforementioned Samooja, Kieran Vincent and Jinichiro Kozuma earned their spots in the promotions event last December.
Ogletree earned his LIV stripes after he won the Asian Tour’s International Series order of merit in 2023.

“I’m curious to see how it all plays out with the guys in the open zone versus the guys in the relegation zone
“I think the promotions event is going to be a little bigger this year. I’ve heard some rumours that some more PGA players are going to go over and play it.

The main tours have been even attending the peace negotiations since last June, but alas, no peace tour has as yet materialized.
We don’t have the foggiest what that deal could amount to, but it cannot be expected they will be making them at all until at least 2026.
Jay Monahan of PGA Tour and his counterpart from Europe Guy Kinnings have urged the public that they are sure that something can be negotiated.
Still, according to Rory McIlroy two major barriers exist; namely regulation by the U.S. Department of Justice and players looking out for their own self interest.
