Ex-couple Sha’Carri Richardson and Janeek Brown first began dating in 2019 after they met at an award show. The 19-year-old Richardson and 21-year-old Brown were publicly open about their relationship.
However, their relationship did not last long. In 2022, Richardson came out on her Instagram to talk about her breakup. In her post, she revealed that her relationship with Brown was abusive and that the couple faced frequent fights.
As a result, Richardson’s fans heavily criticized Brown on social media. Brown also took to her Instagram to hit back at her, denying the allegations and claims made by her ex-partner.Sha’Carri Richardson then conducted an Instagram Live just before competing at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon. She defended Brown and accepted that both of them were responsible for damaging their relationship.Days later, Janeek Brown finally confronted her fans, accepting the allegations that Richardson had earlier made against her.
During a virtual interview with @BwouaTingz, she admitted her mistakes. She said:
“They said I was abusive once there is physical evidence of it.”
She added that she was trying to be a better person, saying:
“And we moved on, and even after then I was trying to move on from that, we still got absolutely nowhere.”Yes I was really going through something, I was searching for something – I was discovering myself that is why I am going to social media, you get my point? “Okay it’s a change; they will now look for themselves.” I may look different now.”
