The last day of event finals was expected to be a triumphant home for Biles, as what some called, “The Simone Games”. There was pressure on her to claim at least another gold, which would see her equal the record of nine Olympic gold medals for a female Olympian.
Nevertheless, Biles erred on the balance beam in her first event final of the day. This is the first time she failed to clinch at least a bronze medal in every all around, vault, beam, and floor event she participated at world championship or Olympics.
Simone Biles the USA gymnast who recently won seven gold medals is still in the lime light due to her gymnastics records. Biles won four medals in total which included three gold medals after the completion the 2024 Paris Olympics. Her cumulative tally of Olympic medals now stands at 11 the same as that of Allyson Felix. She is also tied with Felix on the number of gold medals collected, with seven.
Jonathan Owens’ Support
Jonathan Owens, her husband and the Chicago Bears safety, has been Biles’ biggest supporter at the Games. They first met back in 2020 but this was the first time Owens personally attended an Olympics in person. The Bears allowed Owens to be in Paris.
Owens also used X (formerly Twitter) to congratulate his wife writing: “Just a reminder that my wife is THE S-”
But this did not work well with followers who felt unhappy to remind him of the time he said that he had no idea who Biles was when they began dating, as per Fox News report.
Biles performance during Paris is a great improvement from her performance during the 2021 Olympics were she underwent through a spell of what is referred to as the ‘twisties’. These Olympics proved that at 27 Biles remains unbeatable and still sets records that show she is still very much formidable in her sport of gymnastics.
Record-Breaking Performances
Biles became the second woman in Olympic history to repeat an all-around victory and win a second gold medal in the vault in Rio de Janeiro after 2016. Also she won gold in the women’s gymnastics all-around team final on earlier in the week, thus making her the most accomplished American gymnast with now eight Olympic medals.
