Lewis Hamilton began Sunday’s Singapore Grand Prix in third place but ended in sixth.
Lewis Hamilton skipped his post-race interviews and instead provided his assessment of the Singapore Grand Prix through a Mercedes press release.
Due to their desire to “recover,” the seven-time F1 world champion and his Silver Arrows teammate George Russell did not appear in front of the Sky Sports cameras following the race.
Hamilton made an impression in qualifying on Saturday and began the Grand Prix from position three. Additionally, the 39-year-old started the day on soft tires in an effort to get an early advantage over Max Verstappen and Lando Norris.
However, he was unable to pass the pair at the top of the standings and had to pit for new tires before his competitors, which ultimately left him using older tires. In the end, he placed sixth at the finish line.
Mercedes issued a statement following Russell’s fourth-place finish, saying, “Unfortunately, neither George nor Lewis will be attending the media pen this evening as they recover from the exertions from this evening’s race.”
Additionally, Hamilton shared his comments in a news statement issued by the Brackley team after a trying day in southeast Asia.
Hamilton said, “It is difficult to describe the range of emotions you feel when we have a difficult race like that.”
“Everyone is still being put to the test this year, but we are all trying our hardest.” We don’t always do things right, and our method wasn’t working today.
Every weekend, we make decisions with the best of intentions, but occasionally things don’t work out. Although it might be annoying, everyone is involved in this.
After two disappointing seasons, Mercedes made significant strides ahead of the summer break when Russell won the Austrian Grand Prix and Hamilton experienced triumph at Silverstone and in Belgium.
However, since the season started over at the end of August, the Silver Arrows have faltered once more.
Hamilton went on, “We’re working hard to figure out why we’ve lost some form to the leaders in the last few races.”
