Horner investigation verdict announced in huge Red Bull decision

The saga surrounding Red Bull F1 team principal Christian Horner has finally reached its conclusion after the team announced the verdict of an internal investigation.
Horner’s role has been under immense scrutiny throughout the 2024 season, since accusations of alleged ‘inappropriate behaviour’ labelled at him by a female colleague came to the fore.

The Red Bull boss denied any wrongdoing, and was initially cleared by an internal investigation, while the employee was suspended from the wider Red Bull GmbH brand.

However, the suspended employee, who was reported as being ‘upset and scared’ by the whole situation, appealed the decision made by Red Bull, and reportedly hired a new legal representative team.

Red Bull has recently faced troubles on the track, but off the track, there has been ongoing unrest due to the controversy surrounding Horner since the start of the 2024 season.   The relationship between Horner and Jos Verstappen has deteriorated.  

Renowned designer Adrian Newey has decided to depart from the team due to the excessive rumors about the team based in Milton Keynes. Additionally, Helmut Marko has reportedly considered resigning from his position as chief advisor.   

Red Bull has announced that the appeal process against the initial ruling involving Christian Horner has been completed, and he has been cleared of any wrongdoing.  

The team stated in an official statement that earlier this year a complaint was made against Horner, which was investigated internally.  

An independent party dismissed the grievance, but the complainant decided to appeal the decision.  

Another independent party carried out the appeal process, which has now been concluded with the verdict that the appeal is not upheld.   Red Bull has accepted and adopted the conclusions of the independent party.

What will happen next with Christian Horner investigation?

Horner has continued to hold his position despite facing pressure from individuals within and outside the team.  

Both McLaren CEO Zak Brown and Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff have requested for ‘transparency’ regarding the issue in recent months, advocating for an external investigation separate from the Red Bull setup.   

While three-time world champion Max Verstappen has mostly stayed on the sidelines in the ongoing controversy, his father has been outspoken about its effects on the team.  

Horner is set to stay in his role as the team based in Milton Keynes aims to maintain their dominance in the sport, pursuing a third consecutive world championship double.

Horner is the spouse of ex-Spice Girl, Geri Halliwell. During the peak of the controversy, the couple showed solidarity at the Bahrain GP, happily walking hand in hand while Verstappen won the race.”   

The couple resides in Oxfordshire and has been involved in a dispute with other nearby residents regarding the building of a new swimming pool.  

This disagreement has resulted in heated complaints.
